Conduct laboratory experiments for drug development and testing in cell-based and animal studies; perform standard biochemical and molecular biology assays; aid in planning and coordination of studies and collect and analyze data for future publications; assist with training students and monitor their work; oversee compliance with safety regulations and order supplies.

Desired qualifications: Three to five years of experience in a biomedical laboratory; skill in developing and culturing human and mouse cell lines or high-throughput screening assays; proficiency with standard techniques for working with proteins and DNA; familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint software; expertise in transgenic mouse models strongly preferred; experience in immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry.

POSTING 2475 - Research Associate

A Post-Doctoral Research Associate position is available in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology to undertake studies investigating the mechanisms of immune cell polarization/function and downstream effects on immune response. Many of the studies will aim to determine the role of stress-activated transcription factors in immune cell polarization. The focus will be to perform and coordinate laboratory experiments involving whole animal and cell-based immunology studies. Conduct laboratory assays using biochemistry, molecular biology and immunology methods. Assist in planning studies as well as in data collection and analysis. Train and supervise students and other laboratory staff in the laboratory.

Fixed Term Academic Staff, Minimum Requirements: A PhD in Immunology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or related field. Good command of written and spoken English, and a team- oriented approach to science is required. Productivity will be measured by peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals.

Desired Qualifications:Proficiency in a variety of methods in molecular biology and biochemistry; experience in cell culture and aseptic technique; experience in handling animals; expertise in Immunology and/or familiarity with immunological methodology a plus.

The Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology at Michigan State University seeks to fill an academic year tenure-system faculty position at the level of assistant professor.

The ideal applicant will have a track record in employing in vivo methods for the study of the cardiovascular system, and could be combined with in vitro and other skills that allow for an integrative experimental approach.

The successful applicant will be expected to develop or have an extramurally funded research program in his/her area of expertise, engage within our highly collaborative environment, and contribute to the teaching mission of the department with a focus on teaching pharmacology within the veterinary school.

A doctoral degree (PhD, ScD, DVM, DO, MD or equivalent) and at least 2 years postdoctoral experience with relevant publications are required. An extramurally funded research program is desirable.

The Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology at Michigan State University (http://www.phmtox.msu.edu/) seeks to fill an academic-year, tenure system faculty position at the level of assistant or associate professor with expertise in the areas of drug discovery, chemical biology, or medicinal chemistry in the College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Candidates with proven research expertise and a record of outstanding scholarship in therapeutic target identification and/or drug discovery are encouraged to apply. The Department is associated with the three MSU medical schools (Veterinary medicine and two Human Medicine programs - Osteopathic medicine and Human or allopathic medicine) and interacts closely with other departments such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, etc.

This environment provides robust support for faculty including core facilities for genomics, proteomics, mass spec, and bioinformatics plus the Department's recently established Assay Development/Drug Repurposing Core with high-throughput screening capabilities.
