Published March 8, 2024

Three faculty from the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology were among the 49 honored at Michigan State University’s 2024 Investiture for Endowed Faculty on March 4.

Receiving their honors from MSU President Kevin Guskiewicz, on his first official day in office, were:

Dr. Anne Dorrance, chair of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, who was awarded the Walter F. Patenge Chair of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Norbert Kaminski, director of the Institute for Integrative Toxicology, was awarded the Food and Consumer Produce Ingredient Safety Endowed Chair.

Dr. James Luyendyk, professor of Pathology and Diagnostic Investigation, was awarded the Albert C. and Lois E. Dehn Chair in Veterinary Medicine.

“It means a lot to have my research recognized by a college that values research as much as (the College of Osteopathic Medicine) does,” Dr. Dorrance said. “This honor will allow me to investigate new avenues for my research and to train more students in the lab. I also want to congratulate Dr. Luyendyk and Dr. Kaminski for their investitures. They have brought a commitment, scholarship and passion to the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology that has been invaluable.”

Dr. Guskiewicz, in addressing honorees and attendees, spoke about the impact of philanthropy, specifically when channeled through higher education.

“Such investments in the university’s intellectual horsepower drive the university forward as we recruit and retain the brightest and most talented faculty in the world,” he said.
