Biography

Adriana Ponton-Almodovar graduated from the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico with a B.S. in Biomedical Sciences and Biotechnology. As an undergraduate, Adriana conducted research as a Junior Research Assistant of the NIH Puerto Rico IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE; P20GM103475). She completed an NIH Postbaccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP; R25GM121220) at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School. Currently, Adriana is a Ph.D. Candidate of the Pharmacology and Toxicology Ph.D. Program at Michigan State University. Adriana is co-mentored by Dr. Sachi Horibata and Dr. Jamie Bernard, and her predoctoral project focuses on understanding how metabolic changes modulated by omental adipocytes promote chemoresistance in ovarian cancer cells. She is a graduate fellow trainee of the Integrative Pharmacological Sciences Training Program (IPSTP; T32GM142521).
