Cardiovascular Pharmacology

High blood pressure and its consequences are among the leading causes of illness and death in the United States. The cardiovascular group is particularly interested in understanding blood pressure control in health and disease.

In particular, the cardiovascular group is researching the connections between salt intake or obesity on blood pressure control mechanisms. These investigators use state-of-the-art molecular, cellular and integrative approaches to study vascular function and neural control of blood pressure.

The goal of this research is to identify new drugs that can be used to treat high blood pressure and its consequences, including stroke.
