Drs. Bhattacharya and Tewari-Singh Elected to ASPET Executive Roles

The American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET) Division of Toxicology will be well represented by Michigan State University’s Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology in the coming year after Dr. Sudin Bhattacharya was recently elected Chair-elect and Dr. Neera Tewari-Singh was elected secretary/treasurer-elect.
Their appointments will start in 2025.
“I’m excited for this particular position, and I hope I can make an important contribution,” Dr. Bhattacharya said. “It’s a very exciting time to be in this field because we’re on the cutting edge in the field of toxicology. It’s also a great way to connect broadly with the community.”
“I’m really excited to serve in ASPET,” Dr. Tewari-Singh said. “And with both of us from MSU serving, it’s even more exciting. This is a chance to bring new and better research to pharmacology and to serve the pharmacology community better.”
The division goals include:
• To discuss and disseminate innovations in toxicology including new technology and experimental models.
• To promote publications in all areas in ASPET journals.
• To expand and foster an emphasis on translational research especially related to mechanisms of toxicology.
• To provide a network for toxicologists to interact between academic, industry and government agencies.
• To increase the number of students and young scientists exploring toxicology as a profession.
• To recognize the achievements of outstanding division members.
Dr. Bhattacharya’s research at MSU focuses on computational biology and toxicology. Dr. Tewari-Singh studies environmental toxicology, drug discovery and immunity and inflammation.
