ASPET Summer Undergraduate Research Fellow (SURF) Program

Funded by the American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, the introduces undergraduate students to pharmacology research. Students will work ~40 hours/week under the mentorship of a Pharmacology & Toxicology professor, with additional supervision and training from experienced researchers. Highlights include:

  • Weekly seminar series
  • Oral and poster presentations
  • Stipend provided

Exciting research opportunities are available this summer for cutting edge research experiences in Pharmacology, Toxicology, Drug development, and Environmental Health. This ten-week program begins during summer semester. Start/end dates are flexible for students from universities with different academic calendars.

Eligibility

  • Enrolled in a degree-granting program at a U.S. college or university.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher (4.0 scale)
  • Minimum of one year of college, but no seniors graduating in the Spring immediately prior to starting the Program.

Application Process

To apply, first complete the online application form.

Then submit the following information to Dr. Susan Barman by the March 1, 2025 deadline:

  • Personal statement (maximum 1 page) outlining any prior research experience, professional goals, and a description of how this program will help you achieve those goals.
  • Non-official transcripts including a list of courses presently taking.
  • Two letters of recommendation sent by email.
